In 2012, Fulwari was an innovative scheme started in Chhattisgarh which aims to reduce child malnutrition through organizing community managed nutrition cum day care centres in habitations in tribal blocks. These nutrition centres are known as Fulwari. By 2015, there were 2850 Fulwari centres across 85 tribal blocks of Chhattisgarh state covering around 35,000 children (6months to 3 years age) as well as around 17000 pregnant or lactating women. Fulwari is collectively managed by the group of mothers. Mitanin, Mothers and PRI members have a special role in organizing the Fulwari.
