2023

In Chhattisgarh State, the Mitanin programme is playing an important role in fulfilling this primary duty of the State. Mitanin programme was started in the year 2002. As part of the Mitanin programme, efforts to strengthen the public health system and make the different health services available to the last person staying in all the villages, para, tola and mohalla of the state. As a result of the efforts of the Mitanin programme, there has been an increased awareness amongst the people of Chhattisgarh about their rights relating to health & other aspects of health like nutrition, food, water, etc. The Mitanin programme has also played an important role in establishing co-ordination between the State, Panchayat and the community.

In year 2001, Government of Chhattisgarh initiated measures to strengthen the health system of Chhattisgarh and announced a statewide programme of Community Health Workers called Mitanin Programme. SHRC was conceptualized as a collaboration between Government and civil society in order to provide necessary technical support to the health department for designing and implementing health sector reforms in the state including community-based health programmes like Mitanin.
